Primel is no more (and no less) than a pleasant mooring or anchorage in the Baie de Morlaix. But it makes a good jumping off point for passages up to Morlaix or explorations of the Penzé river.
If coming from the east, beware of the Pierre ŕ la Queue extending to the east of the Pointe de Primel. Apart from that there are no particular obstacles. The entrance is about 3 miles south of the Maloine west cardinal marking the Trepieds rocks. Enter on a course of 152ş indicated by leading marks, if you can see them, (white with red centrelines), or at night red leading lights.
Visitors moorings (marked “passagers”) are to be found behind or to the north-east of the breakwater. Check the depths to avoid going aground. Shelter is less than perfect in onshore winds.
Ashore there is a fish market and an attractive small village with, however, few facilities. Limited eating opportunities exist along the foot of the bay on the rue de l’Abbesse following a longish walk.
